  DISTILLING THE ESSENCE OF LIFE

   

  Chinwe spent two months at the world famous Glenfiddich distillery at Dufftown in the Highlands of Scotland as Artist in Residence. As well as completing the formal portrait the company Chairman she produced a number of paintings and prints that capture the age old traditions and skills still employed in the manufacturing process.

   

  Although industrial, much of the equipment like stills and barrels have great beauty in both shape and material and these images, as well as the people working there, come over strongly in Chinwe’s work.

  Inspired by her work at the Glenfiddich whiskey distillery in Dufftown, , Chinwe exhibited a range of works completed there, other parts of Scotland, the West Indies and Africa. While at Dufftown she painted the workers in the distillery as well as the vast Highland landscapes that contract so much with that of her home in Suffolk. The exhibition which was first shown at the Air Gallery in Dover Street, London moved to Aldeburgh to coincide with the annual Aldeburgh Festival.

  Chinwe developed a new body of work comprising a series of pictures expressing the issues around migration, their genesis, and denigration in host communities.

  CHINWE ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE AT SAINSBURY CENTRE

  During Chinwe's residency at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at The University of East Anglia, she created a number of new works inspired by African masks in the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection. These were on display for 6 months at the Sainsbury Centre.
  

  Chinwe also ran workshops at the Centre as part of Black History Month where she encouraged students to experiment with some of the various printing techniques that she employs to creat her work.

  LAND, SEA & SUNSETS

  In the course of her work Chinwe has travelled through the provincial regions of several continents. The Gallery in Cork Street exhibited a range of her works that capture the essence of those unique parts of the world. Whether the tiny vineries of the Bois de Moulesse, remote Moçambican beaches, stunningly vibrant rainforest trees from or the vivid sunsets in her rural Suffolk home all these pictures are evocative of a world distanced from the hurly-burly of modern life.
