This website features the work of the artist Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy. It provides the visitor with an opportunity to see the extraordinary range and diversity of the artist's creative output, and to learn more about her life.
Chinwe is perhaps best known for her recent portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II commissioned by The Commonwealth to mark the Golden Jubilee.
Also featured are several series of oils, etchings, wood/linocuts, monotypes and sculptures on African, European and Carribbean themes. Some celebrate African tradition and culture, others record the timeless nature of everyday life in a market or fishing village, while others still express Chinwe's feelings about the slave trade which destroyed entire communities over centuries.
Many of Chinwe's original artworks are also available in the form of , greetings cards and postcards, as well as being reproduced in the Random House book 'Chinwe Roy, Artist' that is part of the National Curriculum in the UK.
This site will be updated regularly as the artist creates new works. It will also contain features on current and up coming events such as exhibitions, lectures and workshops.
